Then the Division of Material and Biomedical Engineering was established, which was headed by Assoc. Prof. Jan R. D\u0105browski, DSc, PhD, Eng. In 2012, the Division was transformed into the Department of Material and Biomedical Engineering. The leading points of interest at that time were biomaterials, biomechanics, prosthetics and orthotics. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wm.pb.edu.pl\/iib-en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2022\/01\/IMG_0273-\u2014-kopia-scaled.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-85 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/wm.pb.edu.pl\/iib-en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2022\/01\/IMG_0273-\u2014-kopia-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Staff \" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wm.pb.edu.pl\/iib-en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2022\/01\/IMG_0273-\u2014-kopia-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/wm.pb.edu.pl\/iib-en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2022\/01\/IMG_0273-\u2014-kopia-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/wm.pb.edu.pl\/iib-en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2022\/01\/IMG_0273-\u2014-kopia-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/wm.pb.edu.pl\/iib-en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2022\/01\/IMG_0273-\u2014-kopia-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/wm.pb.edu.pl\/iib-en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2022\/01\/IMG_0273-\u2014-kopia-2048x1365.jpg 2048w, https:\/\/wm.pb.edu.pl\/iib-en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/22\/2022\/01\/IMG_0273-\u2014-kopia-480x320.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>On 1 October 2016, the Department was divided into two units: the Department of Materials and Production Engineering and the Division of Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering, headed by Agnieszka Dardzi\u0144ska-G\u0142\u0119bocka, DSc, PhD, Eng. Two years later the division was transformed into the Department of Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering.<\/p>\n<p>On 1 October 2019, as a result of the implementation of the Act \u2013 the Law on Higher Education and Science, the Department of Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering was dissolved. In its place the Institute of Biomedical Engineering was established, headed by Assoc. Prof. Szczepan Piszczatowski, DSc, PhD, Eng.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Since 7 July 2021 the Institute has been headed by<strong>&nbsp;Prof. Jolanta Pauk, DSc, PhD, Eng.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The institute coordinates activities aimed at the development of research and education in the field of biomedical engineering and conducts doctoral studies.
