Scientists from the WM in Brussels

On May 4, 2023, employees of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Białystok University of Technology, I. Zgłobicka, PhD and D. Perkowski, DSc, PhD, BUT prof. participated in the first international conference No European Green Deal without Lightweight Technology organized by Composites United. The conference gathered many international and national partners: European Lightweight Association (ELA), European Lightweight Cluster Alliance, The European Composites Industry Association (EuCIA) and the Polish Cluster of Composite Technologies. The event, which included lectures, presentations and discussion panels, was intended to raise awareness of the importance of lightweight materials for the industry and the achievement of strategic goals of the European Union (“Green Deal”, “Green Deal Industrial Plan”, “Critical Raw Materials Act”). Significant was the place of the first meeting – Brussels, next to the European Parliament. Events like these raise awareness, spot science trends, and give possibility for cooperation.

The trip was also a time of study visits to research institutes in Germany (Fraunhofer IAP) and Brussels (Vrije Universiteit Brussel).

Our scientists returned to Białystok with ew experiences, contacts and, hopefully, chances for further international cooperation!
