The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering includes the Institute of Biomedical Engineering and the Institute of Mechanical Engineering, which carry out advanced research and development work in the field of:

• modern structures, technologies and materials in biomedical engineering,
• new solutions and applications of medical IT,
• mechanics of modern materials, taking into account the development of damage and cracking,
• construction and operation of modern machines and vehicles,
• technology of shaping, processing as well as quality and measurement of technical objects,
• modeling, diagnostics and control of systems and objects, including autonomous robots, mobile and unmanned aircraft,
• modern devices and systems for heat and cooling technology.

Employees of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Bialystok University of Technology conduct scientific research in the field of scientific disciplines: biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, and materials engineering.
